It Is No Longer Consulting It Is now Called Education
Business consultants have been around for many decades but in this day of technology and Google they have become educators instead of consultants. A consultant told you what you did not know and pushed you to make decisions based on the info he or she presented to you. It was all built to get a certain outcome, more consulting. Today in a day of information all we really need to make a decision is all the data and research we can amass. So todays consultants are just now educators that just help you gather the data so YOU can make a decision based on all the data you could compile.
Let me show you how to find the best consultant for your needs;
First you want to educate yourself as much as possible. What ever the subject is spend the time to get to page 10 and watch the videos and webinars. Take that data and take it to the next level before you ever look for a consultant. This way you will be able to make a proper search for the things you need further data on. You must be specific on the skills you are trying to create or replicate. That specific google search will get you the list you really need not just the list that paid google the most.
Second you must be able to evaluate these choices thru a series of evaluation searches, recommendations and references to narrow the list to a manageable number. Once that is done a list a questions that will outline the skills and data sets you are looking for must be created. You will need to keep notes so that later you can go back and review that data to make a decision on an educator/consultant.
And lastly always remember that when you set up the arrangement with the advisor that is just a short term contract. Remember this project needs to end with you having all the needed skills and data to perform this on your own. Do not get involved in a long term arrangement unless that is what it will take to complete the handoff of knowledge, data and skills.
